Every person has different goals and challenges when it comes to physical fitness. The PREP program allows your physician to make recommendations that can be tailored to your health needs and incorporated into a routine by a medical exercise specialist.

Women Outdoors Hiking with Multiple Paths

Eight different tracks of the PREP program

Lifestyle Management

To have the strength and energy to do our activities of daily life effectively, such as house cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping and yard work, it is important to take care of our bodies, strengthen our bones and muscle and maintain a healthy weight. The Lifestyle Management track focuses on helping people lose weight and get stronger through cardiovascular exercise and strength training. Our goal is to help you build a plan that keeps you motivated and on track to live your best life now and for years to come.

Heart Health

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S.—caused by risk factors like hypertension, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, being overweight or obese, unhealthy eating, being physically inactive and excessive alcohol use. The Heart Health track is designed to improve overall heart health through cardiovascular activity, strength training and focused nutrition programming. Staying active and eating healthy foods has been proven to lower blood pressure, help maintain blood glucose levels and reduce body fat.

Empowerment

The Empowerment track is designed for cancer survivors to improve fitness and overall health. Being active during and after a cancer diagnosis will help to reduce fatigue (the most common side effect of treatments), ease depression and anxiety symptoms, increase overall body strength and improve physical function. Our focus is on improving strength and balance, assisting with nutrition through our health coaches and keeping participants moving and active in a fun, safe environment to help them get through cancer treatments and beyond.

Diabetes/Pre-Diabetes

Staying active is a great way to improve the way that the body uses insulin and burns more calories to manage weight. It can take just one session of aerobic exercise to improve blood glucose levels and insulin action for 24 hours. In the Diabetes track, our focus is on using aerobic and strength training activities to improve overall health for those who are living with diabetes or are pre-diabetic.

Arthritis

For the millions of people who suffer from arthritis, avoiding physical activity can cause increased weakness and stiffness, making joint pain and disability worse. The Arthritis track incorporates aerobic exercises, strength training and flexibility training to help reverse muscle loss, reduce pain and improve participants’ ability to do daily activities, lowering the risk of other health problems as well.

Prenatal/Postnatal

This track is custom-made specifically for pregnant and postpartum people, with exercises and nutritional guidance tailored to each participant’s needs. Our fitness specialists work with parents on proper breathing techniques, pelvic floor exercises, cardiovascular training, resistance training, relaxation and stretching, along with providing nutrition coaching and ongoing support throughout pregnancy and beyond.

Cognitive Fitness

The body and mind are intricately connected, and staying physically, mentally and socially active are key to overall cognitive fitness. In the Cognitive Fitness track, we engage participants in cardiovascular exercise and strength training, as well as balance and coordination exercises in a fun group setting. This program seeks to help people recover or maintain cognitive function to improve overall health and wellness.

Youth in Motion

Obesity and other chronic conditions have become an epidemic in our country and are now being diagnosed in the youth population. In the Youth in Motion track, designed for adolescents ages 8-16, we seek to help keep kids moving, educate them about proper nutrition and build a solid foundation of health as they enter adulthood. We focus on cardiovascular and resistance training, balance and agility, along with providing nutrition education and support in a safe community.
